Understanding Chronic Kidney Disease
Our kidneys are vital organs that help regulate blood pressure and create hormones which help in the production of red blood cells. More importantly, the kidneys also remove waste products from the blood, which is then purged from the body via the urine. When the kidneys are damaged, they cannot remove waste products from the blood as eciently as they should. This is known as Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) - a progressive loss of kidney function which may lead to kidney failure and the need for dialysis.
